FIN • WALL • PROJECT
The Surf Museum Hawaii FIN • WALL • PROJECT is a permanent and ever-growing exhibit featuring vintage surfboard fins from the 1950s to the early 1970s along with a few oddities from other eras. As with surfboard riding, which originated in Hawaii, surfboard skegs/fins were also first introduced in Hawaii. SMH has amassed what may be the largest collection of its kind, opting to curate glass-on pieces that maintain the wear, tear, imperfections, and patina that were sustained from decades of use prior to being removed from their original wave-riding craft. The exhibit will one day grace the wall of the SMH facility, but for now, is available for your enjoyment virtually. Check back often as we add new items.

More fins and skegs to be uploaded soon as we dig through our respective collections (read: storage facilities).
*If interested in donating (or selling) a pre-1970s vintage fin to the FIN • WALL • PROJECT please message @surfmuseumhawaii or SMH Chief Curator @marcus_ocean Instagram.
